I can’t wait for Big hero 6!!
He’s so cute I had to watch the trailer over & over. Although he doesn’t look like the comic book I have to say the Disney one is much cuter & chubbier.
Baymax is now one of my favorite characters, I haven’t even seen the movie yet. =P
I had to make a chibi Baymax. The actual movie version wouldn’t be as simple to make being the balloon shape he is & his head so small. I hope he looks close enough. Maybe I should add the patches in felt to mimic his patches.
I finally found some free antique (expired copyright) books from an online library.
This one was from DMC the thread is just a ball of size 10 that I had lying around. Larger thread does make learning easier. I still can’t believe that tatting is so addictive =P
Now if only I can find the site where I downloaded the book from.
And here is the almost finished product. The only thing I really need to finish this, is to sew the ends. I guess that can wait until I’m ready to learn the technique & find a small enough needle. But it’ll do for now, maybe until I want to put it up on the Christmas tree.
Found it Antique pattern library
Lots of good books on tatting!
You got to love the internet. I googled so many pictures & basic tatting videos. I was able to find quite a few free patterns but not that many really basic/starter ones. So here’s my guess (totally guessed the stitches) on something that caught my eye. Lost count on a chain but that just proves I’m slowly learning…now to learn how to undo a pulled ring…sigh
I was so excited that my new shuttles came that I just looked at pictures to try to figure something to tat. I bought a book but to bad it never came, guess buying over internet is still a little risky.
I finally found something to try after not being able to knit or crochet for so long, tatting. I searched YouTube for learning videos. Surprisingly there’s quite a few videos there. Although I do find that cloverTV1 videos to be the most clear of the lot. I understand that tatting is making of lace but to learn trying to watch videos of people tatting with really fine thread doesn’t really help =P
I learnt with size 10 thread (technically with whatever I happened to find), but at the beginning I was thinking how on earth do people tat with such fine threads. Almost the size of sewing thread? It obviously made more sense after a few sessions of practising. Having learnt to make friendship bracelets as a kid and Chinese knots & macrame it didn’t take long before I was hooked or would you call an addiction to string, then again I found the term fiber arts. Wonder if that applies?
Here are a few practice pieces. The butterfly was the easiest, then I worked up to flowers, then rings & chains. I did find a very helpful site especially with having no tatting shuttles I made cardboard ones. After a few butterflies I had to buy a shuttle, it was just so much fun & didn’t take long to make all as long I didn’t make many mistakes that I had to try & take out =P
Here’s the site where I found some wonderful tips:
I can’t believe it’s been about 3 1/2 years since I was trying to start this blog about my Saru-chan & amigurumi. I guess that’s what happens when life happens. I wasn’t able to crochet much or go out much, so it seems I didn’t have much to write about.
I think this blog was becoming more of Saru-chan’s adventures. Not sure where it’s actually going but hopefully I can add more to it soon.
It’s been years since they closed down a lot of the Krispy Kreme stores. Hate to say it, but I really miss them. So I took Saru-chan and drove all the way across the city to the only store still open. =P
I just love watching how donuts are made.
They all looked so good. (The smell was so intoxicating.) I couldn’t help but buy some. =P
Okay, so I felt a little guilty scarfing down 2 whole donuts (with and without filling). So I turned to the internet to try to see how many calories or sugar (for that matter) I just consumed. Hehehe, and guess what I found on the Krispy Kreme site.

It’s all so mysterious. But they taste so sinful. ^_~
